Editorial standards & how InstaBriefs works

How InstaBriefs selects and attributes news, and when automated tools are used.

Where stories come from

We collect news from reliable source feeds: national and local news organizations, Arab-American media and official agencies. We select what matters to Arabs living in the U.S. โ€” immigration, taxes, jobs, health, safety and community news.

Attribution

Every story names its original source and retains its link in Sources. Briefs contain attributed excerpts, not original InstaBriefs reporting or independent verification of allegations. Additional detail requires permitted reusable material or clearly attributed reliable sources.

Translation

We may machine-translate headlines and excerpts into Arabic, and label this on the story page. Supported detail from permitted official releases or multiple attributed source excerpts may also be translated. We do not copy complete commercial articles or add unsupported information.

AI-assisted briefs

For a small number of important Arab-community stories we may prepare a brief with AI assistance, based only on published sources, and we label that on the story itself. AI is never used to invent facts.

Accuracy and legal status

We never infer anyone's origin or identity from a name, photo, neighborhood or religion โ€” only from what the source explicitly states. Legal status is kept exact: a suspect or accused person is not convicted.

Same-event coverage

When several outlets report the same event, we keep the earliest report and attach the other sources to it, so the same news does not appear repeatedly. Ambiguous matches, allegations and investigations are never merged automatically; editors review them.

Corrections

If you spot an error, use the Contact form and choose Correction; we check it against the original source and fix the story without changing the source date. Details are on the Corrections policy page.
